No need for an introduction. Let’s jump right in.
10) Mortal Kombat X

We start off with the best fighting game of 2015. Although the competition this year was weak, with Street Fighter and Tekken coming out in 2016, Mortal Kombat can still hold its own in the coming year due to the amount of content and replay value it has over its rivals. A decent story, great fighting mechanics, different character variations, and the Living Tower challenges make Mortal Kombat X one of the best in the series.
9) Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

In 9th place is one of the most anticipated games in history. Metal Gear Solid V split fans of the series in half, with a love/hate relationship throughout the game. I was pretty disappointed with most aspects of Metal Gear Solid V, to be honest, so much that I wrote a blog called ’10 Reasons Why Metal Gear Solid V Disappointed,’ which can be viewed here. I won’t go into much detail because of this. However, I will praise Konami for the excellent gameplay and voice acting, which is enough to earn the number 9 spot on this list.
8) Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture

Number 8 is a surprise entry. Many gamers probably haven’t had the chance to play this game, which is a shame. With most games being set in futuristic environments around the world, it was a nice change playing a game set in an old English town. The details in this game are amazing, which made the journey so much fun. I enjoyed how simple but effective the landscapes are, such as the old church, pub, and camping site. The narrative and storytelling were also unique and compelling. The slow pace may not be to everyone’s liking, but if you enjoy playing a game for its story, I suggest downloading this game from the PlayStation Store right away.
7) Rocket League

Next on the list is a really special game. Rocket League came out on 7th July and is a blast to play. Think of Fifa and Mario Kart, and you have Rocket League. A football match with vehicles instead of players. There are only four buttons to learn, which makes it very easy for players of all ages to play. I can see myself playing Rocket League for years because of its ease and addictiveness. Also, with the recent announcement that Rocket League has almost 9 million active players, expect Rocket League to be the next big franchise in gaming.
6) Until Dawn

Another game on the list that many gamers might not have played is Until Dawn. It is similar to PS3’s Heavy Rain, Beyond Two Souls, and Telltale’s The Walking Dead series. A drama survival horror adventure game where choices matter in a big way. The voice acting is tremendous, the scenery is very creepy, and the different choices throughout the game lead to great replay value. While horror games are lacking these days, Until Dawn stands out among the very best of them.
5) Batman: Arkham Knight

Fifth on the list is the last installment of the Rocksteady-developed game, Batman: Arkham Knight. Once again, it features incredible graphics, a detailed open world, loveable villains, and great gameplay, thanks to the new Batmobile. Scarecrow as the lead villain was a nice change, and The Arkham Knight’s unknown identity led to an interesting story that was hard to predict. The loveable Joker also featured heavily throughout the game, which helped end the series on a high.
4) Dying Light

Mirrors Edge meets The Walking Dead. Previous Dead Island games have been a bit too slow and boring for most players. Dying Light changes all of that. The open world is now a blast to explore due to the new parkour element, which is easily the best thing the developers have done with the Dead Island franchise. Killing zombies is also extremely satisfying, thanks to the weapon customisations and parkour kills.
3) Bloodbourne

Third place goes to Bloodborne. The Demon / Dark Souls franchise keeps getting better. Bloodborne is darker, scarier, and features the most visually and creative monsters to date. The gothic city of Yharnam is also the most artistic and beautiful location in the franchise. With each level well designed and filled with mystery. The gameplay is very similar to the previous Dark Souls, with guns being the only real difference. But this has no effect on the difficulty, which remains very challenging. So get ready to die over and over again. It’s what these guys do best.
2) Fallout 4

Silver goes to the post-apocalyptic wasteland. Fallout 4 is basically Fallout 3, but better in every single way. Once again, the open world is a blast to explore, the create-a-character is deeper, the level-up system is rewarding, VATS combat remains excellent, side characters are very likable, and the wide range of monsters is scarier (especially the deathclaws). New features such as building a base/sanctuary are also fun to play, adding a Sim City-like element to the game.
1) The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

And the number one game of 2015. The gold medal goes to The Witcher 3. A very tough choice choosing between Fallout 4 and The Witcher. Fallout 4 feels a bit too similar to Fallout 3 at times. The Witcher, however, has improved on its predecessor and much, much more.
The Witcher 3 earns the top spot due to the extremely likable main character and the depth of each side character. The story is wonderful, and the dialogue throughout the game is deep, interesting, and features great voice acting. It’s amazing how much dialogue features in this game, and on top of all of it, players have multiple choices to choose from, which all lead to big consequences.
Every feature in The Witcher 3 is pure quality. The gameplay involves a good balance of magic and sword fighting, both tough but rewarding. The open world is rich in detail and fun to explore, which is also encouraged by the developers, due to each main mission involving a character level recommendation. The side missions also have the same amount of depth as the main ones, especially the hunt quests.
The Witcher 3 is an outstanding success. A massive open-world action role-playing game that will go down as one of the best games ever made.
