Have you ever looked at two different games and think ‘these games would make an awesome crossover’? I sure have, several times. Something that rarely happens in video games, with Street Fighter X Tekken only coming to mind. The closest we are to seeing crossovers is with Easter egg’s, such as Borderlands Claptrap in Grand Theft Auto 5, and Jak & Daxter in The Last Of Us. I doubt we will see any major crossover games any time soon. But here are 8 games that would make great crossovers.

Resident Evil/The Walking Dead

The Resident Evil franchise is not what it used to be. Resident Evil 6 received mediocre reviews and don’t even get me started on the movies. Fans have been craving for the Resident Evil series too go back to it’s roots. But perhaps a better option would be to involve gameplay similar to The Walking Dead Telltale games. Gameplay that would focus more on survival than action, and would give players tough decisions throughout the game. Also with how The Walking Dead Season 2 ended, Telltale games could really benefit from a Resident Evil series.

Sleeping Dogs/Watch Dogs

Sleeping Dogs received great reviews, but lacked much publicity. Watch Dogs received poor reviews but had major publicity before it’s release date, with people even thinking it could go toe-to-toe with the Grand Theft Auto franchise. Sleeping Dogs and Watch Dogs can never go toe-to-toe with Grand Theft Auto and win, but together they might stand a chance.

Any Two Final Fantasy Games

While any two games would work well (apart from Final Fantasy 13). We have never seen a proper crossover of two Final Fantasy games. Final Fantasy 9 & 12 would work well together, with Zidane and Vaan being similar. But the obvious choice, and the one most fans want to see would be Final Fantasy 7 & 8. A dream team of Zidane and Squall is all it would take for fans to buy this game. Just make sure we have the old gameplay Square Enix.

God Of War/Devil May Cry

Perhaps the most controversial choice on the list. God of War fans would frown on the crossover of Kratos and the new, emo Dante. For this to work, I’m talking about the old Dante, the one we all know and love. Both franchises are known for their brutal gameplay and big boss battles. Kratos vs. Berial (the conqueror of fire and hell) or Dante vs. Hydra would be enough to convince both sets of fans on a crossover.

Hitman/Splinter Cell

A Splinter Cell/Metal Gear Solid crossover is also a strong suggestion and perhaps a more interesting choice. But Hitman and Splinter Cell have more similarities and would work better together. Agent 47 vs. Sam Fisher would lead to an intriguing story, one filled with great stealth, great gameplay, and multiple endings, depending on which franchise you prefer the most.

Just Cause/Grand Theft Auto

Grand Theft Auto is known as one of the biggest franchises in gaming. But this crossover could also benefit Grand Theft Auto. Both games are known for big open-world maps, but the destruction in Just Cause is something that Grand Theft Auto can’t match. Just imagine the carnage on Grand Theft Auto Online if buildings could be destroyed. Just Cause would also benefit from a better story, characters, and performance.

Fallout/Borderlands

Both post-apocalyptic worlds filled with content and fun gameplay. Both successful franchises that don’t really need any crossovers. But imagine fighting Fallout deathclaws with Borderlands’ crazy gameplay, or taking down Borderlands monsters with the Fallout Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System. Building a base in Borderlands would also be a blast, and having Claptrap following you around in Fallout would be hilarious.

Uncharted/Tomb Raider

The most obvious choice on the list. Packed with explosive gameplay, dramatic cutscenes, and great voiceovers. Uncharted and the latest Tomb Raider games are almost identical, with a male and female lead character being the only difference. The trailer for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End ends with Sully saying ‘One Last Time’. While I doubt this will be the last Uncharted we will see, it could be the end of Nathan Drake’s mentor, Victor Sullivan. Therefore leaving a mighty big spot to fill, one Lara Croft would have no problem with.

And there you go. 8 games that would make great crossovers. Thanks again for reading. Like, share, and feel free to comment if you think of a good crossover game that’s not on the list. Also, feel free to follow me on Twitter X @rhysbritton.
